Vanuatu loses opening match in World Cricket League Division 5
Disappointment for Vanuatu in their opening match of World Cricket League Division 5 in South Africa, where they have lost their opening pool round game to Jersey from the UK Channel Islands by six wickets.
After being put into bat, Vanuatu looked well set on 1 for 103, with Jono Dunn and Patrick Matautaava at the wicket, but when Matautaava fell, the rot set in, reports Pacific Beat.
Coach Shane Deitz says his team couldn’t halt the fall of wickets as they tumbled to 170 all out.
Before the game Shane Dietz has said the match against Jersey will give Vanuatu team clear idea of exactly where they stand.
“Jersey obviously won the tournament last year on their home ground, which really suited the way they play cricket, and they went up to Division 4 like they have in the past and come back down like they have in the past,” Vanuatu coach said.
