PNG wins 9 gold medals on the first day of Pacific Games

Papua New Guinea currently leads the medal count at the Pacific Mini Games with nine gold medals.

PNG dominated the weightlifting competition during the first day of Pacific Games in Port Vila, with Sisters Thelma and Dika Toua wining three gold medals each in women’s 48kg and 53kg divisions. PNG’s Morea Baru won three more in men’s 62kg category.

Fiji currently on the second place in the medal count, with Solomon Islands and Marshall Islands also wining three gold medals each.

Nauru currently has won the most medals overall – eight bronze medals, and three silver.
